Hi all!

My name is Zach and I’m new to this group. I’m a full time algo/quant trader in the Durham area. I’m just looking to network and meet some other traders in the area! I’ll try to attend some of the official events in the future, but if anyone is ever interested in an informal coffee please feel free to reach out!

Thanks for joining!

You bet we would love to find out more about your trading. We have quite a number of people here within the algo trading space, a limited number of whom are full time.

At one point in the past we used to get together after meetings, but we have not yet restarted that since Covid. It has been suggested to start it up.

However we usually keep much of the second hour of each meeting free from 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm for informal topics. We only have a dozen people at most currently making the live meeting in person. So if you can make the meeting by sometime in that second hour, please announce yourself when you get there and you can perhaps tell us a little about your trading if you like and/or we can see if people want to get together after the meeting at a restaurant or tavern afterward. You can just drop in if you can make it - people do not necessarily have to RSVP ahead of time although it helps when they do. People can also arrive at any time in the 2 hour long meeting.

I am also going to be giving and looking for more quantitative talks for a separate stream of meetings, maybe a study group. soon.

What do you think?

Thanks for getting back to me! That all sounds great, I’ll try and make the January meeting. Do you do many events outside of that monthly one?

I’m happy to talk about quantitative stuff as well with anyone who is interested. I’ve played around with a decent amount of stat arbitrage and machine learning among other things.

Great - I hope to see you then if not before. Right now I am thinking of requesting Jan 5 unless anyone sees a problem with it.

I also am interested in those areas along with Options and Derivatives generally. I am heavily into QuantConnect.

I was thinking of asking the author of this book to talk:

Parts of this book are extremely intense but other parts could be covered at a general level.

If he cannot talk, I might try a limited review.

We do not yet have additional meetings but I am thinking of having some special interest groups certainly including Quant area.

But the main talk in January might be on Double Eagle, which is an Earnings Strategy.

More in due course and anyone is welcome to comment on any of this too.

Very cool! I’m planning to begin working on a few options strategies next quarter. QuantConnect seems cool I was looking into them when I started, but generally I’m just building my own back tests and such. Looking forward to chatting, I should be able to make the Jan 5 date.
